Beginner Med Ball Scoop Toss Progressions

Rotational Med Ball Scoop Toss variations are something that we use often at CDSF to develop rotational power for our field sport athletes, especially athletes who play sports with high rotational demands like baseball, lacrosse, field hockey, and golf.

In today’s post CDSF coach Mike Sirani covers our first three progressions that begin to teach dissociation of the hips and shoulders, using the ground and your core to transfer force from your lower to upper body, and develop rotational power that will transfer to your sport.

1. Half-Kneeling MB Scoop Toss- great for teaching dissociation of the shoulders from the hips

2. Spit-Stance MB Scoop Toss- great for learning to get stiff with the front side during rotational movements

3. Rotational MB Scoop Toss- this is a more dynamic variation where you begin to put the pieces together and train loading and exploding with your hips.
